Urban Water Treatment
Olpas sensors for urban water treatment are especially used for challenging measurement: high loads (ex. influent or activated sludge), or a wish for longer maintenance windows.
Communal (sewage / urban) wastewater has unique properties that make it difficult to measure solids concentrations (such as Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS), and sludge concentration) using conventional (optical or other) sensors. This difficulty is due to factors such as fouling, the presence of air bubbles, and struvite precipitation.
For these difficult-to-measure situations, Olpas offers a range of sensors that can accurately measure concentration levels in both water treatment and sludge processing.
Thanks to the specific characteristics of the OLPAS Technology and its sensors, currently most value is delivered on these locations in the wastewater treatment plant:
Influent
Activated sludge
Return activated sludge
Sludge dewatering
Polymer-concentration measurement
Olpas is constantly developing new applications. In Urban water treatment, but also in other fields. Make sure to get in touch if you have a need for a specific measurement that should be less prone to (bio)fouling and precipitation, that requires longer maintenance windows or that has not been tackeled yet succesfully using the traditional optical or microwave based measurement technologies.
